According to what Subaru says, you're right. However The dyno reveals that the 06's power is underrated (200whp means about 245hp). Also 0-60 launches are usually done by dumping it at 4000rpm. So a roll on from 2000rpm would greatly favor the 06. If it was all out from launch the race would have been closer.

The 06 has the 2.5L with more low end torque which makes it somewhat faster under 3500rpm. But otherwise the difference at the top end is marginal.

Slow? ok mate, they my not be as quick as an STI but the difference isn't great enough to call the WRX slow. Go back to a normal car then you see what slow is.

Oooh how insensitive of me. I don't hate the car... but the styling has been on the decline. The 04s looked much better than the current day Rex. However, unless we're talkin STI...they're a little lackin in the power for my taste.

What a load of S#$%. The extra torque the 2.5 has is negated by the extra weight it has to carry and max torque is acheived only 500rpm lower in the 2006 model. There is also only 0.2 second difference 0-60mph betwwen the 2 cars. Race was rigged.
