Four people were injured in a three-car accident on Saturday morning, five miles east of Miami on Oklahoma Highway 10, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed.
The accident occurred about 9:20 a.m. when for unknown reasons, a 1993 Dodge driven by Christopher Chrismon (my brother in law), 19, of Miami, went left of center striking an two oncoming vehicles, the OHP reported.
Chrismon was pinned inside the vehicle about 40 minutes, according to Trooper Brian McSlarrow, before being removed and transported via Medi-Flight to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He is listed in fair condition after being admitted for treatment of arm and leg injuries.
A passenger in the Dodge, Rachael Gilmore (sister in law), 19, also of Miami, was transported by Quapaw EMS to Integris Baptist Regional Health Center, for treatment of head injuries. She was listed in fair condition, McSlarrow reported.
A second passenger, Leitte (Faye) Stepp (my aunt), 46, of Wyandotte, was transported via Miami Baptist to St. John's for treatment of head injuries. She was listed in fair condition, according to the OHP report.
A third passenger, a one-year-old boy was reportedly not injured (my nephew).
Kenneth Blair, 46, of Wyandotte, driver of a 2003 GMC, was not injured. Nor was the occupant of his vehicle, Cathy Collins, 40, also of Wyandotte, McSparrow reported.
Marisa Mason, 28, also of Wyandotte, the driver of the third vehicle, a 1998 Dodge, was transported via Quapaw EMS to a Miami hospital. She was being treated for leg injuries and was listed in fair condition, the OHP indicated.
Seatbelts were not in use by any of the occupants of the 1993 Dodge (this is a false statement....all had bruises where the seatbelt was), but were in the other two vehicles, the trooper noted in his report. |

My brother in law blacked out and went into the on coming traffic. It was a head on collision. No one died thank God!!
wow what caused the accident
My brother in law was the one who was driving. He actually died at the scene of the accident and rushed him to Joplin. Just a month prior to that a pastor that I know well from Miami and his wife had a head on collision in pretty much the same spot. Crazy isn't it.
I remember whn this happened. this was in my town. |
