The Monaro first came out in Australia in 1968 by Holden. Then came out again in 2001 in Australia again by holden, then the americans put a different body kit on it the called it the GTO. So the Monaro is Australian but the engine is american.

although the GTO was an original american muscle car, it has no relation to the new Holden Monaro ( new pontiac GTO in the US) because the monaro was designed and built in Australia. the only american thing is the V8 which actually comes from chevloret. calling it a pontiac GTO is merely a marketing exercise by GM so they can sell the monaro in the US market

No, it was a Monaro in Australia long before it was a GTO in the States. But yes, it does have an American engine. Next you'll be claiming the G8 is originally American as well.

It's a holden monaro, built in Australia. Its badged as a Pontiac GTO in the US and as a Vauxhall monaro in the UK but there all the same car.

RsGhost1 the current model Pontiac GTO design is from the Australian Holden Monaro the Monaro started back in the early 60's in Australia. GM own Holden in australia as they own Vauxall in the uk im pretty sure, feel free to correct me on the vauxall thing not to sure, but if oyu yotube "holden manaro" you will see the older model aussie monaros
