great scene. love both cars, but you what ive always wanted to see personally i want to see the general lee go at it with eleanor. they can race and then show that neither won and then they both have to work together outwit the cops. memphis and bo duke woking together. thats a cool scene.

The chase scene between Steve McQueen's fastback Mustang GT and the hitmen's Charger R/T is popularly regarded as one of the greatest car chase scenes ever filmed. During filming of the scene, the Charger proved to be extremely durable. When performing the various jumps over the hills in San Francisco, the Mustang GT encountered several suspension problems, while the suspension of the Chargers used never failed once.

The sound is not the car McQueen is driving. It is from a race-prepped car on a track by another driver. Notice how his car suddenly starts to growl more aggresively before the chase? It is a tape that has been dubbed in. So, the sound is not an issue. The funny part is where he misses the turn and then has to back up and floor it with a one-wheel peel--it was a mistake by McQueen, but they left it in.

Sorry to burst your bubble but in real life back then the charger was held back because it was way faster then the stang.They even had to modifiy the mustang for the abuse.Mustangs make mechanics work happen!

from 4:04 on it could have been a mustang commercial, play the mustang 2:57 68 song commercial in the back ground around 4:04 and see what i mean, the car swings around and the price could have been there at the end! ford has the better idea bang explosion! that would have been amazing ford mustang commerical! mustang makes it happen!
