Hummer's used by US military all over the world in combat. 50+ other militaries use Hummers. Dozen of countries manufacture military vehicles based on Hummer platform or consept. Did you see many 'lifted' Wranglers in Afghanistan? See if you can follow with Wrangler in the mud where 6x6's getting stuck...

When Army need smaller vehicle for the job they use Defender. When Marines do the use Gwagon. The last what you called 'Jeep' that was used in Vietnam was Ford MUTT that hardly has anything to do with Jeep exept size. Besides the fact that Humvee ground clearence 16 inches while Rubikon only 10.5. Now ask yourself if army install lift kits..

Hummers are just not off road vehicles! They're clumsy, boxy, and they too wide and too long for any serious trails. They're ground clearance sucks, they only do good out in the open where there's nothing to get stuck on. That's why they use them in Iraq because its noting but open desert. If there was ever a war like Vietnam again that took place in the tight cramped jungle. The Army would probably want the Jeep back.
