what year was this filmed?

Ford used to own it, they recently sold it. The new models are from the new owner.

no ford did

True, I think some rich arab bought jaguar.

Ford did own Jaguar, LR, and Austin Martin but sold them all recently.

the body was designed many years ago idiot, in america, carol shelby the got involved(an american) and made the gt40(a race car) what it is. Now the GT is just a ressurection production version. Americans practically own all the britis brands. Dont be mad that the GT is a ferrari killer and pointout that it isnt 100% american. Get out of here with that shit.

He likes that car so much he bought it. but he said himself it's always in the garage.

I'd be driving them here and there aswell. Mainly for the attention factor :P

Maybe, maybe not what are the nationalities of the designers for those companies. Just because a company has it's head quarters located in x country doesn't mean that the desinger isn't from y country. And the GT was designed by americans. The first GT40 didn't accomplish much till Carol Shelby got involved with the program an american.

This is the 3rd top gear I've seen Jeremy cover the GT and he REALLY loves this car..lol

American car or not it is still a work of art and is also my fav car.

he knows that but americans dont build or design those cars

What he doesn't know is that Ford owns Austin Martin Jaguar and Volvo all of which he loves

I'm an enthusiast, so I can understand owning a supercar. However, unlike Ferrari fanboys, I'd take it out and do things with it. If I had a Viper or Ford GT or one of those new ZR1 Corvettes, I'd actually drive it places. Work, the store, etc, so not all supercar fans are the same and I'm sure a lot of Porsche owners laugh at Ferrari owners for not actually driving their cars.

That's expected on a show that thrives on bashing anything American... nobody needs a car that can drift around corners, top 200 miles/hr... where do you drive those cars? On the Interstate?... on your way to work? It's just not practical... If the show was about fuel efficiency, I'd understand... Most people who buy those cars don't drive them. They just sit in a garage somewhere with 10 other "fast" cars to collect dust and rust... what a waste!

I love how he loves to split hairs about parts that supposedly originated in Europe (and lie about the suspension. It was done by Saleen) and then fail to give American engineers credit for European cars. Especially his favorite brand (HINT: That magnetic suspension Ferrari uses was developed by General Motors).

haha.. finally.. one of Ford's diamonds in the rough.. they should try competing the x-1 with the sucky zo6.. see who coughs up smoke..

this is not top gear

Oh, By the by, the Italian brakes Clarkson spoke of,,, Maserati again owned by Ford, go figure.

lol i agree

Jusrcause5; The parts were made in England by Aston- Martin, which Ford owned at the time. If Ford owns the company then the part were made in a Ford subsidiary, but Ford none the less. By the way, do the Brit even own a car maker anymore? Ford either owns or did own Aston, Jag, Rolls Royce / Bentley, whats left? Ariel? In any case, this version of the GT as it's predecessor the GT-40 racer is a Ford. If you work for an American company, you can't claim ownership of the product, it's a Ford

-_-

The body was assembled in Wixom, MI and designed in Dearborn, MI. Don't get mad b/c Clarkson is wrong about th specifics as usual.

i am amazed at how jealous the brits are of america. I cant make it through a single british production with out a pop shot at america get over it we won. Well twice actually, no hard feelings can we all move on now?

LOL! You wish!
