I'm going to have to disagree considering such high levels of performance occur at extremely high rpm levels; a power band consistently higher than would necessitate vtec as you described it. I'd wager the cam profiles are exceptionally radical with low rpm use never taken into consideration for its intended use.

the VTEC system is performance orientated. at low rpm, the engine will have set ignition and valve timing. as engine speed increase, this timing can be advanced closer to top dead centre to provide a more powerful combustion cycle. the VTEC system uses oil pressure to move the camshaft along to a different cam profile providing the more aggressive timing, and hence giving the engine more power. i'm not sure but i would not be suprised if all teams some form of VVT (variable valve timing).

The bugatti veyron 16.4 holds the fastest car record and it only has a little over 1000hp using 4 turbos. F1 Cars only have around 700 hp. Top fuel drag cars make almost around 2000 maybe 3000hp. And that is only for a quarter mile run.

All this F1, drag racing & nascar argument bullshit. Theyre all different forms of motorsport & each are inspiring in their own way. Me, I personally love F1 for the development and engineering that goes into it. The engines, gearboxes, aero development; awesome stuff.

Wow, i would like to see a cockpit view with that. :D I knew they wanted to do a speed record, it's pretty cool, concidering these cars also accelerate from 0/60 in les then 2 seconds, and have tons of grip, and brake so hard like you have the feeling you gonna brake apart. So basicly Formula 1 cars are perfect cars, that with tons of restrictions, wish they made a car for fun without any restrictions, and see how fast it can go. :D

True. Most of the "useless" aerodynamic nose kits usually get ripped off, because alot of the "STRAIGHT UP INSANE FOLK" smash into the wall when they overcorrect.

i think its more along the lines of tire manufacturer sport, in which the idea is to have little control and some control at the same time. it also involves useless spoilers and pointless aerodynamics in general..

For pure insane power and speed try drag racing. "Top Fuel" dragsters run to about 335 MPH in 4.6 seconds with about 9-10,000 Horsepower !!! NOTHING comes close in the world of motorsport! it's like standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier !!!!!!!!!!!!

Drag racing is for fast cars NASCAR is for drivers who have connections Formula Racing is for insane people Drifting is for STRAIGHT UP INSANE FOLK as is dirt rally racing Autocross, is for fast drivers there i think this clears up most peoples concepts of the drivers

Anyone with a drivers license can drive in a circle at 200 mph simply because that takes almost no skill. Now compare that do driving at 50-200mph on tracks with corners and multi directional turns; and you have a sport that needs lots of skill.

Nascar is an easy sport to follow when your hammered. If you think that being a F-1 fan gives you a cultural boost, I submit that you should pick any medium other than Youtube.
