Well, in this specific case, the 03-04 cobras came built from the factory to support boost. There are a few TT cobras pushing 20+psi on an otherwise stock motor and doing just fine. and the LSX motors can take some fuckin abuse with little modification like head studs and gaskets and valve springs. and a v8 on a very conservative street tune of 8-10psi is freakin dangerous in any respect.

so i guessing the gut kept the supercharger it already had?

Generally you run into more problems with turbos on muscle cars because of the massive increase in compression, so its more expensive to setup. That and most people are satisfied with the 450-600hp you can achieve with a supercharger on a muscle car. But as always, for big big numbers you just need big big turbos.

yea dude, your exactly right. Imports/tuners tend to lack low end power thus needing a supercharger because with a supercharger its immidiate power. With a turbo it has to spool up. But when your turbo does spool up that thing is quick. Muscle cars should stick to turbos cause they already tend to have low end power. I like both turbos and superchargers and I've seen a few sweet Stangs with superchargers but you gotta love a twin turbo Cobra :)

why should ricers only use turbos? if you think about it, they are the ones that would be better off using a supercharger because they lack low end power. muscle cars tend to already have low end power, so they would be better suited for a turbo.

idk, i think muscle should stick with supers and ricers should stick with their turbos, and from what i read a turbo and a super is pointless cuz you don't get the power output from them as a single, ex: the turbo would have more power alone than combining it with its supercharged counterpart. Disclaimer: I READ THIS. i have no clue about the actual science behind it, so dont hold me to anything =P

Well, if you want to go with that statement then turbos ONLY belong on big diesel trucks, because that's what they were intended for to cut down on noise.

yea but if you watch alot of videos u notice that all the mustangs thay are turbo are quicker than the s/c ones

The 5.4 in your navi might be similar to the motor found in the Lightning and the gt500, but they are definitely not the same. And Im gonna have to disagree that turbos dont belong on muscle cars. That is the ultimate combo. Displacement+ technology= win

NOt true at all. The cobra is a four valve and the navigator has the same engine option as well as the 2 valve 5.4 the 4.6 supercharged engine is the basically the same as the 5.4l 4 valve non supercharged engine. they actually share the same heads. the only difference is the total displacement of the engine. So actually the higher option navigator engine is actually basically the same.

An 03-04 cobra has a 4.6L supercharged V8 which is not the same as the navigators 5.4L N/A V8. the ford GT does have the same motor as the navagator except its built to handle boost cause its supercharged. maybe the new cobras have that motor too im not sure but these dont i know that for a fact.

Never said that. I said turbos werent. And honestly I'd rather have all Ford GM and Chrysler in the US. My family doesnt drive any Asian or European cars. All Fords.

Thats not the only reason. Im not saying they make a gay sound, personaly i love the sound of turboed EURO cars, 911 turbos, etc. They dont belong on muscle cars because they werent originated for them. They were made by a Swiss enginer so they were released to europe first.

you CAN raise the boost, you dont have to. you can also do that with s/c's by changing the pulley

THe Turbo is a hollywood glamorized addon to a car. Nobody would have ever thought about putting a turbo on a muscle car before fast and furious. Heck that was a really realistic movie right. Turbo's and Superchargers are similar but very different in the way they operate. Both get the job done, however I do agree with tucan, Turbo's don't really belong on muscle cars, but then again I wouldnt consider a 04 cobra a muscle car really. Heck it has the same engine as my 2004 Navigator. true

oh and if youre gonna buy a supercharged car or supercharge one, dont be a pussy and pull it out and sell it. If you wanted a cobra with no super charger buy a damn msutang then. And i Know about turbos raiseing gas milege and all taht.
